Chalmette, LA
DESCRIPTION:
Gibbs Construction has completed another fast track project for the St. Bernard Parish School Board. Chalmette High School and Lacoste School now have the inclusion of a state-of-the-art medical clinic which includes four exam rooms, two triage rooms, a medical lab, an elevator and a fully enclosed, climate controlled, 20-foot high pedestrian bridge connecting the two schools at the their second floor lobbies. The 550-foot long bridge, which spans across Judge Perez Drive, allows students and faculty to traverse from one school to the other without enduring inclement weather or the danger of crossing the busy roadway. Beginning in February of 2010, construction activities moved quickly to accommodate the return of school in August of 2010. The bridge and clinic are a testament to the commitment of rebuilding St. Bernard Parish by the St. Bernard School Board and Gibbs Construction.
