Safety is Our First Priority

Gibbs Construction is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment to all of its employees. Our company management and operational workforce make safety a first priority on every project.  Best practices and procedures are carried out consistently. In no instance is the safety of personnel, public or private property, the general public, or the environment sacrificed or disregarded, for the sake of expedient unsafe operations. Because of this absolute commitment to safety, Gibbs Construction has an exemplary safety and health record.

Program

We operate under a comprehensive safety program that is integrated into the standard operational procedure of every project. Safety is not something that is merely lectured about. We engage our entire operational workforce to take a proactive role applying our program and supporting our corporate commitment. Our “Safety Begins With You” pledge,  includes a personal commitment by each person working on a Gibbs job site.

As part of our program, we provide continual safe work practices education and training, and we have a full time staff dedicated to safety.

The program is organized into three main area of focus: Accident Prevention, Employee Health Protection and General Loss Control. We operate under the most current safety rules and regulations governing our industry. In 2012, Gibbs Construction became an Alliance Program participant. This program was created by OSHA to help organizations prevent workplace injuries, illnesses and fatalities.

Results

Because of our absolute commitment to safety, Gibbs Construction has an exemplary safety and health record.  Since 2011, Gibbs has worked approximately 600,000 man-hours without a loss of time injury.

Associated Builders and Contractors Platinum Level S.T.E.P. Award
Gibbs Construction has earned the Associated Builders and Contractors Platinum Level S.T.E.P. Award every year since 2002. This national award was presented to Gibbs for its superior commitment to safety, training and education.

Accredited Quality Contractor Award
Gibbs Construction has also earned the Accredited Quality Contractor Award every year since 2002, with the exception of 2005 due to business disruption by Hurricane Katrina. This award is presented to contractors who demonstrate superior efforts and results in the areas of safety, training, benefits and community involvement.
