Melissa Gibbs served on a breakout session panel this morning at the #PowerUp Women’s Leadership Conference at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. Her panel was sponsored by The Women of NORLI, and the topic was “Getting Comfortable with Controversy.” Organizer/moderator Rachel Nunez, Melissa & co-panelists Christine Albert & Ann Duplessis had a standing-room-only full house of highly engaged & enthusiastic women, which added so much to the experience. Kudos to conference organizers the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce & Fidelity Bank POWER for a wonderful event! #womenofnorli #NORLI #leadership #womensleadership #womensupportingwomen #girlpower #yougogirl #NOLA #womeninconstruction ... We are proud to announce that our project at 640 Magazine Street has been awarded a 2019 Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation from the Louisiana Landmarks Society. The adaptive reuse of the historic structure in the Central Business District of New Orleans converted the former home of Reily Food Co. to a mix of residential & commercial space. The five-story, 78,000-square-foot property includes 35 residential units & retail/office space on the ground floor. The scope of work included the structural rehabilitation and replacement of the existing heavy timbers that had stood for over 100 years, dating back to the building’s original use as the Reily family’s coffee roasting & distribution facility prior to World War I. Congrats to our #TeamGibbs members on 640 Magazine for a job well done! And thanks to our owners the Reily family and our architects Rozas Ward Architects! #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #historicneworleans #commercialconstruction #generalcontractor #builtwithpride #awardwinner #winnerwinnerchickendinner ... Our Hunt Gibbs Boh Metro joint venture was a sponsor of the always-fantastic #UNCF New Orleans #MayorsMaskedBall at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans last night. Lauren Gibbs, Matt Moore, and Melissa Gibbs attended (but Matt missed the ladies-only red carpet photo). Yesterday, Gibbs Construction's CFO Ed Methe & Melissa Gibbs participated in a roundtable discussion of the obstacles small & disadvantaged contractors face when procuring & performing work. They then attended the press conference where Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced a great step forward to overcoming one of those obstacles: access to capital. The $5 million #BuildNOLA Mobilization Fund will provide critical access to capital for entrepreneurs of color & women to participate in public infrastructure projects, create more jobs & grow our local economy. Prime contractors like Gibbs, with other business & philanthropic partners, are working with local CDFI NewCorp, Inc. & the New Orleans Business Alliance to allow the fund to help our small local businesses scale up & succeed. For more information about the BuildNOLA Mobilization Fund, contact Peter Brooks at NewCorp, Inc. by calling (504) 208-1700 or emailing peter@newcorpinc.com. #NOLA #biz #cityofyes #economicdevelopment #smallbusiness #growth #success ...
